Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information V8 PitWall handles, why, and who else sees it. We've tried to keep it plain English. If anything's unclear, email us at hello@v8pitwall.com.
1. Who we are
V8 PitWall is operated by BX Precision Engineering (ABN 14 181 476 494), based in Australia. References to "we", "us" and "our" in this policy mean BX Precision Engineering acting as the publisher of the V8 PitWall app and the v8pitwall.com website.
2. What we collect
The short answer: as little as possible. V8 PitWall has no user accounts. We don't ask for your name, email address, phone number or location.
The longer answer, by category:
- App preferences (favourite series, team, driver, notification toggles, paywall state). Stored on your device using Apple's standard storage APIs and shared with the V8 PitWall widget extension via an App Group. Not transmitted to us unless required to deliver a push notification you've asked for.
- Push notification token (an opaque APNs device token, plus the preferences needed to target you — e.g. the team or driver you've followed). Sent to our backend only if you enable push notifications. Used solely to deliver race-day alerts.
- Subscription state. When you subscribe to or purchase PitWall Pro, Apple processes the transaction. Your Apple ID, billing details and payment method are handled by Apple — we never see them. We receive an anonymous transaction identifier from StoreKit to validate that an active entitlement exists.
- Diagnostic logs. Cloudflare, who host our backend, retain short-lived request logs (IP address, timestamp, requested path, basic user-agent) as part of normal hosting operations. We use these only to diagnose outages and abuse. We do not build user profiles from them.
We don't use any third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. There is no tracking pixel on the website. We don't sell data — there's nothing personal to sell.
3. How we use what we collect
- To show you the right schedule, standings, finals projection and news in the app.
- To send push notifications you've asked for (e.g. "race starts in 30 minutes").
- To confirm your PitWall Pro entitlement is current.
- To keep the service running and investigate problems.
4. Who else sees it
We share data with a small number of service providers and only when necessary:
- Apple Inc. — App Store distribution, in-app purchases and subscriptions (StoreKit), and push notifications (APNs). Apple's privacy practices are covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosts our backend Worker, KV storage and the website. Cloudflare's processing is covered by the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
We do not transfer your data to any other third party except where required by law.
5. Where data is held
Cloudflare's KV is a globally distributed key-value store; APNs tokens and notification preferences may be replicated to nodes outside Australia. By using the app you consent to this processing.
6. How long we keep it
- Push tokens: retained until the token becomes invalid (Apple notifies us when a device uninstalls) or you turn notifications off in the app, at which point we delete it on the next sync.
- Diagnostic logs: kept for the rolling retention window Cloudflare provides (typically a few days), then discarded automatically.
- Subscription receipts: kept for the life of your subscription so we can validate entitlement, plus a short period after cancellation for accounting and dispute resolution.
7. Your rights
Under Australian privacy law and (if you're in the EU/UK) the GDPR, you have the right to ask what data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw consent. Because V8 PitWall doesn't have accounts, the only practical request is usually "delete my push token" — you can do that yourself by turning notifications off in Settings, or you can email us and we'll do it.
Email privacy requests to hello@v8pitwall.com. We respond within 30 days.
8. Children
V8 PitWall isn't directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Changes
We'll update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be flagged in the app's release notes.
